Times Insider explains who we are and what we do, and delivers behind-the-scenes insights into how our journalism comes together. In April , The New York Times sent me to Japan to meet and photograph the decorated Paralympic athlete Marieke Vervoort while she carried out the last wish on her bucket list: dying. Marieke was fresh off the Paralympic circuit, having just won bronze and silver medals in wheelchair racing in Rio de Janeiro in She had previously won gold in the world championships, as well as gold and silver in the London Paralympics. She was a celebrity in Belgium and in athletic circles for her athletic accomplishments and her public announcement that she had completed the paperwork to end her life by euthanasia. Belgium, where Marieke lived, was one of just a handful of countries where euthanasia was legal for non-terminally ill patients. I met and photographed Marieke in Japan, seven months after the Rio Games.

Objective: In small case-control studies, obesity was associated with worse vitamin D status. Our aim was to assess the association of adiposity anthropometric measures as well as dual energy x-ray absorptiometry with serum hydroxyvitamin D OH-D and serum PTH levels in a large population-based study including older men and women. Methods: Subjects were participants of the Longitudinal Aging Study Amsterdam and were aged 65 yr and older. In participants, serum OH-D and PTH were determined, and body mass index, waist circumference, waist to hip ratio, sum of skin folds, and total body fat percentage by dual energy x-ray absorptiometry were measured. Results: After adjustment for potential confounders, higher body mass index, waist circumference, and sum of skin folds were statistically significantly associated with lower OH-D standardized beta values were Conclusion: Precisely measured total body fat is inversely associated with OH-D levels and is positively associated with PTH levels.
It is nice to hear that I am not alone, and that we can do it. Also, they are encouraged to date in groups and not pair off alone, so if your date insists on the same, then agree politely. He is toning down his opinions and ocd ways a little, to be fair to him, I try to ignore the strong opinions, and him rearranging things. Oh well, I'll just pretend she's not mormon and see what happens.
